Join us in our mission to create solutions that help keep children safe online.

Headquartered in Perth, Australia, with offices globally including in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Qoria is an ASX listed global leader in child digital safety technology and services. We are a purpose-driven business, operating under the ‘Linewize’ brand in North America and Asia Pacific, the ‘Smoothwall’ brand in the UK, and the ‘Qoria’ brand in EMEA and Sri Lanka. Our solutions are utilised by schools, school districts, and parental communities to protect children from seeing harmful content online, identify children at risk based on their digital behaviours and ensure teachers maintain focus and safe learning in the digital classroom. 30,000 schools and 7 million parents depend on our solutions to keep 25 million children safe in 180 countries around the world.

What’s the opportunity?

As a Data Engineer (Business Intelligence) at Qoria, you will play a key role in integrating data from business platforms and products to create a centralised, trusted source of truth for management reporting and business intelligence. Your work will empower teams across the organisation with accurate, timely, and actionable insights that support smarter decisions and performance tracking.

This role is critical to our strategy of becoming a data-informed organisation and supports the long-term success of our unified platform by ensuring consistency, scalability, and integrity of data across all systems.

Ownership: What are the objectives of my role?

  • Centralise and structure data from internal systems and products to enable robust business intelligence reporting.

  • Ensure data pipelines and models align with Qoria’s enterprise data standards and frameworks.

  • Implement and uphold strong data quality and control practices.

  • Support and mentor junior team members (interns, trainees) to build long-term team capability.

  • Partner with Business Analysts and stakeholders to deliver meaningful, consistent reporting outcomes.

Responsibilities. What are my day to day responsibilities?

  • Build, manage, and optimise data pipelines and integrations with internal systems and product platforms.

  • Work within existing data architecture and frameworks to ensure alignment with Qoria’s BI strategy.

  • Model and transform data to support reliable and scalable management reporting.

  • Develop and maintain data quality checks, validation routines, and control processes.

  • Collaborate closely with the BI Business Analyst to ensure data models meet reporting requirements.

  • Document data models, pipelines, and standards to support transparency and continuity.

  • Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and delivery ceremonies with the BI and data teams.

  • Provide coaching and technical mentoring to interns and junior staff.

Global Responsibilities

The duties of the Data Engineer (Business Intelligence) include:

  • Ensuring consistent, reliable data availability across business units and regions.

  • Upholding security, privacy, and compliance standards when handling sensitive data.

  • Collaborating with stakeholders across global functions (Product, Finance, Operations, etc.) to understand data needs.

  • Contributing to the evolution of Qoria’s global BI and analytics capabilities.

What good looks like.

  • Data pipelines are reliable, well-documented, and aligned to business needs.

  • Management reports powered by your data models are trusted and heavily used.

  • The business views the BI team as a strategic enabler, not a reporting function.

  • Interns and junior team members grow under your mentorship and become confident contributors.

  • Data issues are proactively identified and resolved before they impact reporting.

Requirements: What skills & experience is required?

This role requires:

  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or a related field.

  • Strong SQL and experience with data modelling best practices (e.g., star/snowflake schemas).

  • Hands-on experience building and managing data pipelines using modern tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, etc.).

  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, AWS Redshift, etc.).

  • Knowledge of ETL/ELT processes and version control (e.g., Git).

  • Experience working within a structured BI or analytics environment.

  • Comfort working collaboratively with business analysts, product managers, and developers.

  • Experience implementing data validation and quality controls.

To be successful in this role you must:

  • Be proactive and curious about how data drives decisions at all levels.

  • Have strong communication skills, especially when explaining technical data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Be detail-oriented with a passion for clean, consistent, and trustworthy data.

  • Work effectively in a fast-paced, agile team environment.

  • Show a commitment to mentoring others and sharing knowledge generously.

  • Balance pragmatism with best practices to deliver high-quality solutions quickly.
