Job description

.Want to deliver tech with purpose, with people who care?

Join us in our mission to create solutions that help keep children safe online.

Who are we?

Headquartered in Perth, Australia, with offices globally including in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Qoria is an ASX listed global leader in child digital safety technology and services. We are a purpose-driven business, operating under the ‘Linewize’ brand in North America and Asia Pacific, the ‘Smoothwall’ brand in the UK, ‘Qoria LK' in Sri Lanka and the ‘Qoria’ brand in EMEA. Our solutions are utilised by schools, school districts, and parental communities to protect children from seeing harmful content online, identify children at risk based on their digital behaviours and ensure teachers maintain focus and safe learning in the digital classroom. 30.000 schools and 7 million parents depend on our solutions to keep 25 million children safe in 180 countries around the world.

What’s the opportunity?

We’re hiring an Engineering Manager to lead our new Platform Experience team — the group responsible for owning the internal services, tooling, and infrastructure that empower our global Engineering teams to deliver quickly, safely, and at scale. In this role you’ll collaborate with other engineering leaders across the organisation to understand points of friction with internal platforms and processes, and deliver solutions that enhance the day to day developer experience whilst supporting Qoria’s strategic goals. You’ll lead a team of engineers and be responsible for their development and performance, as well as the management and delivery of our internal Platform roadmap. If you’re passionate about building a better engineering experience every day, this is the role for you!

What you'll bring:

The skills and experience listed below will give you a sense of our practices and tech stack. We’d love you to apply even if you don’t tick every box. We’re pro-learning, good engineering and coding paradigms, rather than specific tools.

Essential Skills

● At least 5 years of commercial software development experience

● At least 3 years of experience leading and managing software delivery teams, with an excellent record of project delivery

● Demonstrated strength in people leadership; capable of building, inspiring, and retaining high-performing teams through feedback and ongoing development

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical ideas clearly and effectively across both technical and non-technical audiences

● Experience working with globally distributed teams and collaborating across time zones and cultures, leveraging asynchronous working practices where appropriate

● Strong stakeholder management skills—able to build trusted relationships with cross-functional partners including product, delivery, and leadership

● Experience building and managing software using cloud platforms and services (we use GCP predominantly, but highly value experience in AWS or Azure)

● Strong technical foundation in software development, test automation, CI/CD pipelines, and modern engineering good practice

● Experience building and managing infrastructure as code at scale (we use Terraform)

● The ability to observe, measure, and demonstrably improve outcomes for engineering teams through people, process, or tooling changes

Other Skills We Value

This list gives you a flavour for the sort of team we are. If you have a few of these as well you may be a good match.

● Experience building and managing infrastructure as code at scale (we use Terraform)

● Exposure to containerisation and/or orchestration platforms like GKE

● Experience building and managing developer portals, code quality platforms, or other internal platform tooling for engineering customers

● Experience leveraging lean thinking, six sigma, or other process improvement methodologies

● Experience building and delivering strategic plans whilst being responsive to change in organisational or market needs
