Job description
Want to deliver tech with purpose, with people who care?
Join us in our mission to create solutions that help keep children safe online.
Who are we?
Headquartered in Perth, Australia, Qoria is an ASX listed global leader in child digital safety technology and services. We are a purpose driven business, operating under the ‘Linewize’ brand in North America and Asia Pacific, under the ‘Smoothwall’ brand in the UK, and under the ‘Qoria’ brand in EMEA. Our solutions are utilised by schools, school districts and their parental communities to protect children from seeing harmful content online, to identify children at risk based on their digital behaviours and to ensure teachers maintain focus and safe learning in the digital classroom. 27k schools and 6 million parents depend on our solutions to keep 22 million children safe in 180 countries around the world.
What’s the opportunity?
We’re hiring a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our Global SRE team — the group responsible for owning the reliability and observability of our software, running at scale all across the world. You’ll work using a DevOps mindset to help teams adopt observability best practices, manage Infrastructure as Code, and be first responders in our Critical Incident Process to ensure children remain protected. Most importantly, you’ll work closely with teams to understand their pain points and design practical solutions that remove friction and improve the reliability of their products.
Job requirements
What you'll bring:
The skills and technologies listed below will give you a sense of our practices and tech stack. We’d love you to apply even if you don’t tick every box. We’re pro-learning, good engineering and coding paradigms, rather than specific tools.
Essential Skills
5 years experience operating cloud platforms and services at scale (we use GCP predominantly, but also highly value experience in AWS or Azure)
Experience managing Kubernetes and associated tooling in production
Knowledge of good monitoring and alerting practices, and experience of handling on-call rotations and pages for production systems
Experience with observability tooling, including tracing and profiling
Proficiency with Terraform and managing Infrastructure as Code
Proficiency with at least one programming language, and a track record of automating away low-value tasks, instead of manually repeating them
Strong understanding of database concepts (both relational and NoSQL) and scaling them to meet demand
Strong understanding of security concepts and securing cloud infrastructure
Experience managing Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery tooling in an enterprise environment, ideally using GitOps
Great communication skills, both written and verbal, to document patterns and champion practices among teams
A strong sense of ownership and accountability, and a passion for learning
Other Skills We Value
This list gives you a flavour for the sort of team we are. If you have a few of these as well you may be a good match.
Experience with managing load balancers, firewalls, and networking administration and infrastructure management
Experience delivering software end-to-end and managing it in production
Familiarity with microservice architectures and debugging distributed systems
A passion for improving the day-to-day experience of developers within the organisation, and the platforms they use
Excellent asynchronous working skills to aid our global team
